IoT Sweden is one of 17 strategic innovation programmes funded by government research councils Vinnova, The Swedish Energy Agency and Formas. The objective is to create a foundation for competitive and sustainable solutions to society’s challenges. The ambition with IoT Sweden is to fund innovation for a period of ten years.
IoT Sweden works within the Swedish national agenda for Internet of Things (in english). As IoT is an area in rapid development IoT Sweden has to adapt it’s resources to reach maximum effect. Since 2016 IoT Sweden focuses on IoT for an innovative society, in cooperation with public organisations, businesses and scientists.
The innovation program IoT Sweden consists of a board, members, a number of projects and a supporting program office. The program office is located at the Ångström laboratory, Uppsala University. The office works to gather actors, increase interactions between stakeholders and finance innovation projects in the area of IoT. Members can participate in and influence the direction of IoT Sweden, joining the board, and get information about activities organised by IoT Sweden.
The program office works, more or less, with three different types of activities:
IoT Sweden highlights various aspects of IoT and its possibilities and challenges. Each year we organise several seminars and meetings with different themes within the IoT areas. gathering stakeholders and initiating collaborations.
IoT Sweden supports Vinnova in formulating and designing calls for proposals for innovation projects in the field of IoT. The projects financed in the different calls are focusing on IoT for an innovative society development.
Through analyses and monitoring of the IoT area IoT Sweden recommends Vinnova to finance a small number of projects of importance for the IoT development in Sweden.
